MyMonero

The MyMonero app is the fastest and most feature-packed way to use Monero.

• Why Monero?

Monero is a next-generation privacy-first digital currency.

With Monero, no bank can place a hold on your Monero transfers or apply arbitrary fees, delays, and restrictions. Whoever holds your wallet's secret key words holds control of the wallet's money. So, you can access your money from anywhere in the world, and send it to anyone. Every single Monero transaction is protected by layer upon layer of peer-reviewed, privacy-enforcing cryptography. Virtually all other attempts at digital currencies besides Monero publicly expose how much money you have and who you are transacting with. This leads to a genuine safety issue that Monero solves.

• MyMonero: a light-weight wallet for Monero

Monero users often choose to run their own Monero server. When they want to view their wallet balance on a new device, they have had to spend days downloading the Monero blockchain (gigabytes) and then had their mobile scan every part of it for their own transactions. Moving to a new device meant losing their outgoing transactions history because it's not stored on the Monero blockchain.

With MyMonero, you get instant access to your wallet and history from any device, without having to scan the blockchain. But there's no trade-off of control because MyMonero's lightwallet technology builds Monero transactions directly on your device so that your wallet secret keywords and "spend key" never leave your device. So we couldn't spend your money even if we wanted to. The only thing that is sent to a MyMonero-compatible server is the "view key". (Don't want to use the MyMonero server? Just set a compatible server in Preferences.)

We don't add any fees on top of the normal Monero network fee to send money, receiving is free, and adding new wallets is completely free. MyMonero supports multiple wallets at a time, so you can go nuts and keep an account for savings and an account for spending cash.

• Design-First

MyMonero is feature-packed and designed to support zippy in-person transactions. Need to send your buddy some Monero? Have them create a new Request QR code. Simply scan it with your phone and hit Send!

Tired of keeping track of all your friends' 95-character Monero addresses? MyMonero comes with built-in smart contacts support. And if your contacts have support on their personal websites for OpenAlias, you can just enter their email or domain and the app will automatically look up their Monero address.

All of your secret data, including your contacts and requests, is kept directly on your device under industry-standard AES-256 symmetric-key encryption. Only you know your encryption password. The app locks itself whenever you step away, ensuring no one can gain access to your secret keys.

We all still use world currencies like USD in daily life, so MyMonero comes with built-in currency counter value support. Create requests in the currency of your choice. The sender's app will calculate the Monero amount to send at the time they scan your request.

• Open Source

The MyMonero project is completely open-source and has had many components of its design reviewed by the broader Monero community. We were founded by a Monero core team member in 2014 and are owned and operated by Monero contributors.

Be your own bank with MyMonero. Your money and your privacy are yours. Transact freely and safely with anyone, anywhere in the world.
